Acid reflux is a medical condition where the acid from your stomach comes out through your esophagus. It is also called gastroesophageal reflux. Acid reflux is a very common problem among adults and old ones. If you have acid reflux for more than two weeks you need to consult with your doctor.
Symptoms of Acid Reflux
The symptoms of acid reflux include heartburn, acidity, feel of burning in the chest, nausea. If you have heartburn, you will not be able to eat. You might feel a bitter and sour taste in your mouth. Sometimes you may feel that a lot of acids is coming back to your mouth. Sometimes patients may feel pain in the lower esophagus this is due to inflammation due to acid reflux in the lower sphincter.
Causes of Acid Reflux
In our esophagus, there is a valve known as a sphincter which controls the juices release by our liver to digest the food. Our stomach is always filled with that acidic juices or digestive juices. The sphincter controls the food which we eat it allows to get in the stomach but dont allow to get out food or other juices from the stomach because it remains close. When there is an inflammation in the sphincter it can not open or close properly and the juices from the stomach came out and cause heartburn.
Treatment option for Acid Reflux
There are various treatment options are available to treat the acid reflux. First, your doctor may suggest you to change your eating behavior and if you have not got relief by changing your eating behavior your doctor may prescribe certain medicines to control the symptoms of acid reflux. These drugs are:
Acid reflux is a chronic disease that causes a lot of problems to patients. If your symptoms are not healed by these medicines, your doctor may suggest you opt for surgery where your doctor may repair the defective sphincter and you will be able to pass your normal life like earlier.

Some lifestyle habits may increase the chance of having acid reflux. These are:
Eating Fried foods
Taking medicines that may cause acid reflux
Use of fast food
If you are suffering from acid reflux, you need to avoid these things to get rid of from acid reflux problem.Certain conditions like pregnancy, obesity and hernia may also trigger the problem of acidity.
Foods that should be avoided
There are various reasons that may trigger the problem of acid reflux. Most of the problems arise due to foods that we take frequently and it causes acidity. These foods are:
High fat Foods
Eat food when you feel hungry
Avoid Excessive eating
If you have acid reflux or GERD, you need to skip foods for one time and take light meal like double toned milk or porridge. If you have chronic acid reflux you need to take medicines like omeprazole that gives relief.
During pregnancy acid reflux annoyed a lot and causes a lot of discomforts. You need to take some medicines to get relief from it as it is not generally cured by skipping a meal. Some women face a lot of trouble during the first trimester. They are required to take medicine for acid reflux prescribed only by their doctor. Pregnant women are advised to take small meals at frequent intervals, they are required to eat a lot of leafy and green vegetables.
